SCW CHRISTIAN CHURCH (SCWCC) was established December 12, 1991, under the leadership of First Christian Church of Sun City. The present church sanctuary was built in February 1997, and underwent an expansion in 2011. SCWCC has always been a spiritual storehouse in the West Valley of the Phoenix area, where the Bible is taught as God’s inspired and ever-relevant Word to man. It is a non-denominational fellowship of Christians from different religious backgrounds who have found a common acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord.

Special Message-Chance

Sunday, August 9, 2026

Description:

In this sermon episode from Sun City West Christian Church, Pastor Chance examines Jonah chapter 4, highlighting how Jonah's frustration with Nineveh's repentance reveals human selfishness, prejudice, and a desire for personal comfort over God's mercy. By drawing connections to modern church culture and sharing personal testimony, the message challenges believers to align their hearts with God's sacrificial love and welcome all people into His grace.

Key Takeaways:

  • Selfishness vs. Divine Mercy: Jonah's anger over Nineveh's salvation demonstrates how easily personal emotions and prejudices can cloud our view of God's compassionate character.

  • Churches as Exclusive Clubs: Modern congregations often prioritize personal comfort and familiarity over reaching diverse groups, risking becoming exclusionary rather than welcoming to non-believers.

  • The Object Lesson of the Plant: God's use of a shading plant and a worm exposes Jonah's self-centered focus on comfort compared to God's deep concern for lost souls.

  • God Prioritizes Salvation Over Comfort: Believers are called to embrace inconvenient, cross-shaped sacrifice and pursue continuous growth (sanctification) rather than settling into complacency.

Scripture & Bible Passages Referenced:

  • Jonah 4:1–11 – Jonah’s anger at God’s mercy toward Nineveh, the shading plant, the worm, and God’s closing question.

  • Jeremiah 17:9–10 – The deceitfulness of the human heart and God's examination of motives.

  • 2 Corinthians 3:16–17 – The removal of the veil when turning to the Lord and the freedom found in the Spirit.

Gifts That Cant Be Wrapped

Sunday, August 2, 2026

In this special episode of Living Strong, brought to you by Sun City West Christian Church, we explore the origin, importance, and true meaning of fatherhood. Moving beyond the typical ties, tools, and grilling gadgets, we dive into what fathers and families actually need to thrive.

Drawing insights from historical marriage guides, Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s bestseller The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, and timeless biblical wisdom, this message breaks down four essential, non-material gifts every family should cultivate: Contentment, Time, Encouragement, and Affection.

Key Takeaways

  • The True Value of a Father: God evaluates men by their hearts and faithfulness, not by their bank accounts or titles.

  • The Gift of Contentment: Men often attach their identity to a paycheck, but true peace comes from prioritizing faith and family over worldly wealth.

  • The Gift of Time: Children spell love T-I-M-E. Don't climb the ladder of success only to discover it’s leaning against the wrong wall.

  • The Power of Encouragement: Kind words give us strength to endure life's hardships—words of support can double a person's capacity to withstand stress.

  • The Importance of Affection: Active affection, gentle touch, and clear reassurances keep a marriage strong across a lifetime.

  • Core Priorities for Life: God $\rightarrow$ Marriage $\rightarrow$ Family $\rightarrow$ Church.

Sexual Immorality

Sunday, July 26, 2026

Podcast Title: Counterfeit vs. Covenant: Reclaiming the True Meaning of Intimacy

Episode Description

Welcome to Living Strong, brought to you by Sun City West Christian Church. In this episode, we unpack how modern culture has hijacked the language of connection. Pop culture traces the phrase "yadda yadda" back to a famous 1997 Seinfeld episode, where it was popularized to gloss over casual hookups and treat intimacy as something dull, insignificant, or disposable.

But long before it was a sitcom punchline, Yada was a sacred Hebrew word appearing nearly a thousand times in the Old Testament. Instead of meaning "boring," the true scriptural definition of Yada signifies a deep, spiritual, and physical intimacy built on faithful covenant love. Join us as we explore the warnings outlined in the Book of Proverbs, confront modern statistics on temptation, and explore how a father’s urgent advice to his son offers a timeless blueprint for guarding our hearts, protecting our families, and choosing covenant loyalty over counterfeit pleasure.

Key Takeaways

  • The Hijacking of Yada: While modern culture uses "yadda yadda" to describe things that are unimportant or empty, the original Hebrew word yada means profound intimacy, closeness without shame, and faithful covenant love—both in marriage and in deeply knowing God.

  • The Father's Warning in Proverbs: Solomon intentionally structures the Book of Proverbs to address the traps of sexual immorality before discussing money, leadership, or success, illustrating that uncontrolled desires can instantly derail a person's entire legacy.

  • A Boundary Shift in Modern Culture: Looking closely at sociological data, the cultural consensus on morality has flipped drastically over the last 60 years. Purity is increasingly mocked, lust has become a multi-billion dollar industry, and temptation is more accessible, affordable, and anonymous than ever via smartphones and apps.

  • The Real Cost of Immorality: The speaker highlights that sin always carries hidden side effects. While temptation markets immediate pleasure and secrecy, the long-term reality results in broken vows, lost honor, fractured families, and structural damage to the soul.

  • Practical Steps to Avoid the Trap: The episode concludes with preventive actions straight from Scripture: proactively filling your mind with God's word, physically staying away from environments of temptation ("don't go near the door"), guarding your eyes, and heavily investing in a joyful marriage.

Anger

Sunday, July 19, 2026

Welcome to Living Strong, brought to you by Sun City West Christian Church. In a world increasingly saturated with continuous news cycles, political division, and escalating hostility, a single question echoes through our culture: Why is everyone so angry?

In this powerful message, our speaker explores the mechanics of anger, comparing our modern struggles with the profound teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. By stripping back the layers of this reactive emotion, we uncover the critical differences between ungodly, destructive rage and the righteous, godly anger meant to correct injustice.

Inside This Episode:

  • The Danger of Constant News: Why continually watching the modern news cycle can systematically foster deep-seated resentment and anger.

  • The Heart of the Sermon on the Mount: A deep dive into Matthew 5:21-22, exploring how Jesus explicitly links unrighteous anger to the spirit of murder.

  • The Three Triggers of Ungodly Anger: Understanding the psychological and spiritual roots of worldly anger: Fear, Hurt (both physical and emotional), and Blocked Desires (not getting your way).

  • The Reality of Godly Anger: Re-examining the clearing of the temple to see what genuinely angers God—systemic injustice and deception—and learning when we should actually be angry.

  • A Submarine Commander's Story: A moving, real-life account from the speaker's time commanding a Navy submarine, demonstrating how taking a stand against administrative injustice can yield miraculous results.

  • The Three Objective Tests of True Forgiveness: Why true forgiveness is a choice of the will rather than a passing emotion.

Key Takeaway: "If anger is unresolved, if we hang on to it, sin creeps in. Anger leads to bitterness. Bitterness leads to hate. Hate leads to violence... Forgiveness has nothing to do with emotion. Don't depend on how you feel."

The Leader God Blesses

Sunday, July 12, 2026

Americans might disagree on almost everything, but most people can agree on one thing: a good leader makes hard times bearable, while a bad leader can make good times miserable. In this episode of Living Strong, brought to you by Sun City West Christian Church, we dive into the Book of Proverbs—God’s one-size-fits-all wisdom manual for daily living.

Discover why King Solomon directed some of his strongest warnings toward rulers, judges, and people in authority. We examine what Scripture explicitly says about how a leader’s personal character, boundaries, choices regarding alcohol, and willingness to listen to godly counsel can cause an entire nation to either rejoice or groan. Finally, we look back at history to see how America’s founding fathers and historic leaders relied on these exact biblical principles to anchor a changing society.

Scripture Referenced in This Episode

  • The Pure Heart: Psalm 24 – David asks who may stand in the Lord's holy place, answering that it is only those with pure hands and hearts.

  • The Path of Wisdom: Proverbs 14:8 & Proverbs 22:3 – Understanding how prudent people foresee trouble and plan their direction, while fools deceive themselves and suffer the consequences.

  • A Warning to Rulers on Alcohol: Proverbs 31:4–5 & Proverbs 20:1 – Why wine and heavy drink cloud judgment, lower restraint, and threaten justice for the oppressed.

  • The Danger of Chasing Temptation: Proverbs 31:3 & 1 Kings 11:1 – Solomon’s warning against wasting life chasing relationships that ruin kings, and how he tragically ignored his own advice in his old age.

  • The Power of Wise Counsel: Proverbs 11:14 & Proverbs 15:22 – Why people fall without intelligent guidance, and how an abundance of godly advisors brings victory.

  • Defending the Poor and Helpless: Proverbs 28:15 & Proverbs 29:7 – How a wicked ruler acts like a roaring lion to the poor, contrasted with godly leaders who fiercely care about the rights of the helpless.

Landing on Proverbs

Sunday, July 5, 2026

Episode Description: Are you navigating life by impulse or by the directions? In this episode of Living Strong, brought to you by the Sun City West Christian Church, we kick off a powerful study into the Book of Proverbs.

Through a mix of humorous real-world illustrations—including a carpet layer's missing parakeet and a thief who mistook a sewage tank for a fuel line—we explore the severe "wisdom shortage" facing our world today. Discover the critical difference between having knowledge (knowing what is possible) and possessing godly wisdom (knowing what is right), and learn how true, lasting stability only returns when we align our lives with the ultimate instruction manual.

Key Takeaways from This Episode:

  • The Blueprint for Life: Why attempting to build your life without consulting the Creator's manual will always result in avoidable heartaches.

  • The Power of an Understanding Heart: A deep look at King Solomon’s famous prayer in 1 Kings 3:3-14, breaking down the exact heart posture required to receive divine insight.

  • Knowledge vs. Wisdom: Unpacking the Hebrew concept of Hakam (skill for living) and why high IQs can still lead to foolish choices if God is left out of the equation.

  • The Foundation of Everything: True wisdom is conditional upon our willingness to listen and act. It begins the moment we embrace the "Fear of the Lord" (Proverbs 9:10) and admit that He knows more than we do.

The Relentless Love of God

Sunday, June 28, 2026

What happens when a reluctant messenger finally surrenders to a persistent God? In this episode of Living Strong, brought to you by Sun City West Christian Church, we dive into the third installment of our series on the Book of Jonah.

Shifting from a rebellious prophet running away in fear to an obedient man stepping into his calling, we explore the incredible account of Nineveh’s unexpected revival. This message challenges the traditional "children's story" narrative to reveal the true hero of the text: God’s relentless persistence and His sovereign mercy toward undeserving sinners. Whether you feel unequipped to share your faith, are struggling with "analysis paralysis," or are afraid of ruffling a few feathers, this episode is a powerful reminder that God doesn't call the equipped—He equips the called. Tune in to discover what it means to speak the truth in love and boldly administer the spiritual medicine our world so desperately needs.

  • Overcoming Analysis Paralysis: Breaking free from the fear of failure, rejection, or not knowing enough scripture by trusting that God has already equipped you.

  • Truth in Love: Balancing the reality of God's righteous judgment with the beauty of His mercy, avoiding "fire and brimstone" without grace.

  • The Three Dimensions of True Repentance: Examining how the Ninevites demonstrated an internal belief, an external act of faith, and a moral turning from evil.

How To Treat Moms

Podcast Episode: How Jesus Honored His Mother

Episode Description

What does it truly mean to "honor your father and mother"? In Hebrew, the word honor (kabed) means to bring weight or substance—to treat someone as weighty and substantial rather than lightly. In this special Mother's Day broadcast of Living Strong, we dive into the life of Jesus to see exactly how He modeled this commandment throughout His life.

From a bustling, frantic Passover celebration in Jerusalem to His ultimate sacrifice on the cross, Jesus consistently treated His earthly mother with radical obedience, gentle respect, and deep care. Whether you are navigating the busy years of raising children, learning how to respect authority in the workplace, or figuring out how to care for aging parents, this episode provides a powerful, scripture-driven roadmap for building a well-ordered, God-honoring family life.

Key Scripture & Verses Covered

  • The Weight of Honor: Leviticus 19:32 – Unpacking the foundational Old Testament mandate to stand in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly, and revere the Lord.

  • The Boy Jesus in the Temple: Luke 2:41–52 – A close look at the only recorded story of Jesus' childhood. When Mary and Joseph accidentally leave a 12-year-old Jesus behind in Jerusalem, His response teaches us powerful lessons about family communication, tracking what matters most, and respectful submission.

  • The Standard of Obedience: Colossians 3:20 – Understanding why obedience in the home pleases the Lord and forms the vital foundation for how we respond to authority for the rest of our lives.

  • The Workplace Connection: Colossians 3:22 – How learning to respect authority at home directly translates to working willingly and sincerely for earthly masters as if working for Christ.

  • The Wedding at Cana: John 2:1–11 – How a 30-year-old Jesus launches His public ministry with a polite, respectful miracle, responding gently to His mother's subtle plea when the wedding wine runs out.

  • Final Provision from the Cross: John 19:25–27 – In His final, agonizing moments on earth, Jesus ensures His mother's lifelong welfare by releasing her into the care of the disciple He loved.
