Arizona Native Billy Thrall is building bridges for businesses, churches, and government leaders to come together to support schools, fight injustice, serve families, and feed the hungry. Billy’s heart for the poor and the “least of these” began in college at the University of Arizona. From there Billy attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena where his passion for the lost and hurting grew.
After fifteen years of church ministry, Billy realized something was missing. There are incredible people and resources all around, so why aren’t we working
together to make sure the need finds the resource? Billy’s passionate vision led him to be part of a historical season for Arizona. In 2010 Billy partnered with business, civic, and church communities to launch a six-month Season of Service which included the Arizona CityFest. The impact of these service projects inspired Billy to create an ongoing connection place where communities can proclaim Christ and serve Arizona together.
With the help of Arizona CityFest partnerships, Billy started CityServe Arizona in March 2011. For seven years CityServe united the city for HopeFest, an annual event to assist families with immediate needs and long-term solutions. Today CityServe continues to be the bridge that unites Arizona and shares the amazing work that the community is currently doing.
Billy believes that real change happens when we love our neighbors and combine efforts to help them. His goal is to find existing serving efforts and share the best practices available. With over 30 years of ministry experience in Phoenix, Billy not only has the connections but the drive to unite sectors and bring lasting change.
