World’s Oldest Dog’s Secrets Revealed

No one enjoys saying goodbye to a beloved and faithful four-legged furry friend. Losing a pet is always difficult. Everyone would love it if animals would never age and pass away. Sadly, though, that’s not reality. However, there are some things we might be able to learn from the world’s oldest pet.

The Guinness Book of World Records recently named Bobi as the world’s oldest living dog. The ancient pooch lives in Portugal and is reportedly a shocking 30 years and 270 days old, according to the report from Good Morning America

Wow!

So, how has Bobi managed to live such a long life? Well, there are several things Bobi’s family credits for the animal’s prolonged and continued existence.

Bobi’s family points to his healthy diet, which does include human food. As far as the animal’s surrounding environment is concerned, Bobi lives a “stress-free life in the country where he’s allowed to roam,” according to the video.  Bobi's family adds that the ancient animal is never put on a leash.

As anyone would expect with a dog that has lived to see more than three decades, Bobi does have some physical ailments. The canine does have some issues with his eyesight and gets around much slower than in previous years.

While the elderly animal has slowed down, he still loves playing with other dogs and spending time with his loving family.

Congrats, Bobi! May your days be full of long, quiet walks, plenty of belly rubs and a ton of doggy treats. Hopefully you do not have to fend off any pesky felines in your advanced years!

Ukrainian Ballerinas Fled Home But Are Back on Stage

Russia continues its unprovoked deadly invasion of Ukraine. Images shown daily on the news highlights the death and destruction inflicted upon the European country. In addition to those innocent people killed in Russia’s assault, many fled their homeland for safety.

Despite everything they have gone through, one group of Ukrainians – dancers with The United Ukrainian Ballet - refused to let the brutality of war stop them from doing what they love, according to one YouTube clip. They are currently on a worldwide tour.

However, this comes after Russian forces began invading, bombing and destroying Ukraine.

The clip points out that one of the dancers, Oleskii Knyazkov, was set to star in a production in Ukraine last year. But things quickly changed.

“You don’t think about performing or something like this when aircrafts go over your house or you hear explosions,” he said

Another dancer, Vladyslava Ihnatenko, the clip mentions, fled with dance clothes and one pair of ballet shoes.

“We didn’t dance for a really long time because the most important thing was to save yourself,” she said.

While the group travels around the world, they still yearn to go back home to Ukraine. But they understand that with Russia’s continued assault on their native country, that desire is nearly impossible.

“Yes, you can't plan anything,” Oleskii said. “Maybe tomorrow everything will change. Will we have our home for tomorrow? You don’t know.”

The dancers with the United Ukrainian Ballet made their U.S. debut in Washington, according to the YouTube clip. They performed at the Kennedy Center.

What a heartbreak story about the realities of war. However, it’s also a beautiful example of the human spirit and the will to survive and preserve in terrible conditions.

US Championship Pairs Figure Skating Routine

Having a dear friend, a teammate or a significant other can make life much easier and more fulfilling. In Genesis 2:18, God stated that it is not good for man to be alone, so he created “him a suitable helper.”

In figure skating, like in life, two people can turn an awesome thing into a much richer, more beautiful experience. Figure skaters Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier showed just how stunning and awe-inspiring the sport can be as they claimed the U.S. national title with their dazzling routine.

As the clip posted on YouTube shows, the two athletes start off their routine by skating in unison. However, soon into their routine, Brandon launches Alexa into the air. She twists several times in the air as Brandon catches her without missing a step!

The crowd loves their breathtaking show of talent, hard work and elegance.

Not only do Alexa and Brandon manage to skate together in lockstep but around the 1:30-minute mark in the clip, they jump and land in unison!

Then, in what may be the most impressive part of their routine, Brandon launches Alexa up and forward near the 2-minute mark. She spins several times in the air before landing perfectly!

Throughout their skate, the two world-class athletes demonstrate their skill, coordination and their complete and total reliance on the other. For their routine, including their many jumps and twists, to be successful, they must trust the other, quite literally, with their life.

Their award-winning skate is a thing of beauty!

Following their routine, Alexa talked about her love for figure skating and her skating partner.

“As I get older, the longer I’m in this sport, the more gratitude I have for it,” Alexa said, according to NBC Sports. “After that music ended, I’m just thankful that Brandon’s by my side and I’m able to do what I love.”

‘He Gets Us’ Ad Shares Poignant Message of Being Alone

Feeling alone is a big fear for a lot of people in the world today. Believing there is no one available to turn to when life gets hard will only help to make a bad situation even worse. People are looking for someone who cares and loves them.

One video posted to YouTube, that is a part of the $100 million “He Gets Us” campaign, wants people to understand that they are not alone.

The short, 15-second video features black-and-white images of people alone in positions that indicate saddened, distressed and upset states. As the photos roll, a bell chimes every few seconds.

About three-fourths of the way through the video, text appears that reads, “Jesus felt alone, too.” More text is then displayed and reads that “He gets us.”

At the end of the video, viewers are encouraged to visit HeGetsUs.com. On the website, there are several articles that explore a variety of topics, including hope, struggle, justice and politics as they pertain to the life of Jesus.

On the About Us section of the website, it states that the objective of the He Gets Us campaign is to “reintroduce people to the Jesus of the Bible and his confounding love and forgiveness.”

In an interview with CNN, Jason Vanderground, the president of HAVEN and one of the people behind the He Gets Us campaign, reiterated those sentiments.

“We are trying to unify the American people around the confounding love and forgiveness of Jesus,” he said.

The About Us section on the site goes on to mention that “his words, example, and life have relevance in our lives today and offer hope for a better future.”

As CNN points out, several of the He Gets Us ads are expected to run during Sunday’s Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and the Eagles.

18-Year-Old Virginia Ice Skater’s Championship Routine

Much like life, sports have many ups and downs. Competitors fall and they pick themselves back up and keep moving forward. That’s one of the many reasons sports are considered a great learning and teaching tool. One young man did just that as he overcame mistakes to win a skating title.

Ilia Malinin, a teenager from Virginia, is a figure skating champion. According to NBC Sports, the 18-year-old recently won his first U.S. figure skating title.

In order to come away with the win, the teenager had to overcome adversity. Video of the winning routine shows the young man beginning by skating back and forth, slowly picking up speed to attempt his first jump.

However, at approximately the 1-minute mark in the clip, that first jump does not go as planned. Instead of landing, the 18-year-old falls to the ground. But the teenager picks himself up and goes on skating as if it never even happened!

Ilia does not let this mistake stop him from going forward and giving a terrific performance. He attempted and landed several other jumps that had the television commentators voicing their approval. The audience also loved his routine, clapping and cheering throughout!

While his routine was not perfect, Ilia still went on to win the competition.

The young man, in an interview following his routine, mentioned learning from the past and mistakes.

“I was really so confident, and I think I sort of overthought everything and tried to get ahead of myself,” he said. “But I think it’s all right. You always learn from your experiences.”

What a wise and discerning young man!

There is no doubt this young athlete has a bright future, which likely includes competing at the next winter Olympics.

Inspiring Love Story of Hero Who Survived Helicopter Crash

Love is powerful. It perseveres through even the most difficult of circumstances. As God’s Word points out in 1 Corinthians 13:8, “love never fails.” One couple, who has gone through a devastating experience, exemplifies this unfailing love.

In 2005, Philip O’Driscoll, an Australian helicopter pilot, suffered horrific burns in a crash. Phil, who had just landed his dream job as a pilot for a Canadian mining company, was on his way to pick up three men when something terrible happened, the video states

The helicopter’s engine failed just prior to picking up one of the men. At the time, Philip had two options to land the helicopter. The first one would have killed the man waiting to board the aircraft. Philip chose, instead, the second option that sent the aircraft down the side of the mountain, ending in a fiery explosion, according to 60 Minutes Australia

Philip’s bold action saved that man’s life!

Badly burned, Phil was rushed to the hospital.

Kate, the love of Phil’s life, who was three months pregnant with their daughter, Hannah, immediately hopped on a plane to Canada. Phil was so badly burned that Kate admits he was barely recognizable.

“I wouldn’t have known that it was Phillip,” she said. Apart from, you could just see his chest and this, this was the part of his chest where I always used to lay my head. But any of the rest of him, I, it could’ve been anybody.”

Time since the accident has been long and arduous. The clip mentions that in the years since the accident, Philip had undergone nearly 40 operations. But it’s been the love from Kate and Hannah that has kept Phil going.

The clip shows Kate, who is a trained nurse, changing Phil’s bandages.

“It’s changed the whole dynamics of our relationship,” she said. “We were used to not spending too much together because Philip would always be away working for long periods to having to spend 24 hours a day together.”

Kate adds, with a laugh, that she still finds time to give him a hug when she’s “not trying to kill him.”

“For her to have to sit every day and try to find that line between carer and lover-type thing, you know, she’s had to be my mother basically,” Philip said

The video also shows Philip, Kate and Hannah enjoying a day at the beach together.

Philip adds that some days are tougher than others and admits that smiling can be a chore at times, but with his daughter around that’s never the case.

“It’s hard to find the strength to smile some days,” Philip said. “But when I look at my daughter, it’s not hard to smile.”

Long-Married Grandparents’ Advice Written Into Viral Song

Relationships, especially romantic ones, can be difficult and tricky to maneuver. When they come to an end, feelings are often hurt, leaving people scrambling for answers. One young woman turned some helpful advice she received following the end of a relationship into a song that has since gotten a lot of attention on social media.

On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly introduced her audience to Shaylen, a Nashville-based singer and songwriter. Shaylen explained the origins of the beautiful song, “Do It Right the First Time.”

It all began with a painful breakup.

“This is the guy I thought I was gonna marry and probably the worst breakup that I went through,” Shaylen said

Shaylen’s first instinct was to reach out to her mother but was quickly redirected to another source.

“So, she’s like, ‘Call your grandparents. They’ve been married 75 years,”’ she said.

Shalylen mentioned that she got on a plane and flew out to sit and talk with her grandparents. What Shaylen received from her grandmother and grandfather were words of wisdom about relationships and significant others.

“I was like, ‘What’s the secret?”’ Shaylen asked. “She’s like, ‘You gotta laugh at everything ‘cause nothing is that serious in hindsight.”’

Shaylen’s grandfather stated that relationships are all about giving it everything you’ve got and being happy with the results.

“And my papa was like, ‘You gotta try the best you can. Love your hardest. And sometimes you might not get it right the first time and that’s OK ‘cause everything works out the way it’s supposed to,”’ she said.

Shaylen also confessed that after she turned her grandparents’ advice into a song, the response on TikTok was massive and that she kind of “freaked out.” A lot of people, she said, asked for “Do It Right the First Time” to be their wedding song.

Flight Attendant Throws Mock Wedding on Plane for Couple

Nothing says ‘I do’ more than last-minute nuptials mid-flight. While onboard a Jet-Blue flight to Seattle, a flight attendant throws a mock wedding when they discover Chas and Dina are eloping.

Once the flight crew learns they are getting married, they quickly put together the wedding and announce it on board to all passengers on board. Once the announcement is made, all eyes are on the couple, and a few passengers whip out their phones to catch this beautiful moment on camera. Who doesn’t want to capture a mock wedding in mid-air?

“Come and say ‘Hi’ Chas,” said the flight attendant as he pulls Chas out from behind the divider and even helps Chad wave to everyone on board. He happens to be wearing a t-shirt that looks like a suit, complete with a bow tie. Talk about classy! As classy as it is, you can tell Chas is a little nervous about being the center of attention. Next, the flight attendant announces the flower girl and bride coming up the aisle from the back of the plane!

Joanne, another flight attendant steps in to be a flower girl as she waltzes down the aisle throwing beautiful off-white napkins.

Next comes the bride, Dina. She is not only glowing but slightly embarrassed by all the attention. Or perhaps it was because the flight attendants put together a last-minute veil made of trash bags and toilet paper on top of a gorgeous bouquet made of napkins and sugar packets tied together inside a silver mini-trash can.

Dina however, manages to pull the whole look off as a beautiful, blushing bride! Isn’t she blessed that she gets to practice her walk down the aisle to the love of her life? If this isn’t the sweetest moment before they officially say, ‘I do,’ I don’t know what is. I imagine this flight was full of love as couples reminisced about their wedding day.

Congratulations to the couple. May their actual nuptials be a moment they will never forget. And may it be a marriage full of love and blessings along the way. May God be the foundation of your marriage and walk this lifelong journey with you!

“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity,” Colossians 3:14.

State Trooper Heroically Rescues Cat from Dangerous Road

Check out this video of a state trooper heroically rescuing a cat on the side of a dangerous road. A good Samaritan was also there to lend a helping hand.

“You’re okay, bud. You’re okay,” an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper named Katie Thomas says to the adorable black cat stuck in a scary situation. From the body cam footage taken from the camera that the state trooper was wearing, you can see the whole heroic rescue unfold on the side of the busy highway.

A good samaritan also came to the rescue and worked with Officer Thomas to get the sweet cat to safety. During the rescue, the cat became scared and tried to hide in the patrol car on top of a wheel. Using its claws, the cat was pretty stuck up there, and Officer Thomas had to work to pry the cat free.

“Come on. You gotta let go,” the state trooper said to the cat to encourage it to let go of the tire and come out from under the patrol car. Eventually, the little cat was retrieved from under the patrol car, and the good samaritan was able to hold it for a minute to offer some comfort.

Then the cat was put in the back seat of the patrol car and was finally out of harm’s way. But after such a scary incident, the cat would not stop meowing after being placed in the backseat.

Thankfully, the state trooper was able to drive the cat to the Toledo Humane Society. And the staff there appropriately named the rescue kitty Trooper!

Because of Officer Thomas and the good samaritan’s actions, the cat named Trooper was able to be adopted and find their forever home! God bless these two women who saved the day for this sweet little cat!

Young Musical Prodigy with Autism Surprised with Piano of His Own

You have to watch this young musical prodigy with autism excitedly play the piano that he was surprised with from a generous donor. This young kid is so talented!

It all started back in September 2022 when Jude Koife’s story went viral. Jude lives in Aurora, Colorado, and the 11-year-old’s parents had found him playing beautifully on an old keyboard in their basement. But he had never received piano lessons before!

That’s when Bill Magnusson, a piano tuner, heard about Jude’s story. And he decided to use some of his father’s inheritance to buy a grand piano for Jude to have! What a generous gift!

In the video that Isaiah Kofie, Jude’s father, shared online, you can see Bill testing out the $15,000 grand piano after he finished tuning it in the Kofie family’s home. Then Jude is able to get his hands on the new piano and make such beautiful music.

“After I play this, then you can play the piano, okay?” Bill says to Jude. “Okay! I’ll just watch,” Jude responds before taking a turn at the keys. You can tell that he is very excited to get a chance to play the incredible piano. What an amazing gift for this musical boy to receive!

The video then shows the grand piano from different angles, and you can also see Bill’s tuning instruments on the ground.

“After Bill was done tuning the grand piano, it was time for us to try our hands on it. It was superb,” Isaiah Kofie shared online.

Bill also shared that the young musical prodigy deserved the best and Jude’s talent was “Mozart level.”

As Jude is playing on the grand piano, you can just feel the joy that he has! This is one gift that will impact him for the rest of his life. God bless Bill Magnusson for his generous heart and blessing Jude and his family.

Man Dodges Traffic to Help Driver in Danger

Politicians and athletes are often not heroic at all. While some may refer to them as such, they are either playing a kids’ game or simply voting for or against specific legislation. Real heroes put themselves in physical danger to help someone else. One man qualifies as a hero following his recent actions.

Adolfo Molina acted after he noticed a small blue car driving erratically. The vehicle in question had “lost control and was driving up against the guardrail” on a busy Massachusetts interstate, according to Boston.com.

Video of Adolfo’s heroism shows him climbing out of his vehicle and then sprinting across multiple lanes of traffic in order to reach the blue car. Once he reached the car, he saw the female driver unconscious. Her head was bouncing up against the window.

The video shows Adolfo running alongside the car as he periodically tries to pull open the passenger door. Unfortunately, the door was locked. But thanks to the help of another fellow motorist, Adolfo was able to get the vehicle stopped.

While it was a dangerous and risky move to sprint across a busy interstate and run next to a moving car, Adolfo does not have regrets.

“If it was presented to me 10,000 more times, I would still do it,” Adolfo said, according to an English translation from NBC News.

The Lord’s hand of protection was upon Adolfo, and he agrees.

“It was something like God protected me in that moment,” Adolfo said, according to an English translation from NBC News.

Others commenting on the video praised Adolfo for his courageous act.

“What a hero he is so special not many people would risk their lives like that,” one person wrote.

“My gosh complete respect for this man! What an extraordinarily good man and hero!” a second person posted in response to the video.

Mom Found Treasure Trove of Love Notes from Her Husband

A kind word or a positive, motivational message can help turn a person's day around. Who doesn’t like to hear or read something uplifting? That’s what makes one mother’s recent astounding discovery so heartwarming!

Sabrina Clendenin, in a video posted to YouTube, stated that she came across notes her husband wrote to their daughters. As the video points out, her husband would, daily, place sticky notes with positive, uplifting messages in each of their three young girls' lunches.

When she initially came across the notes, Sabrina was shocked at the massive number of notes. However, she then felt a wave of emotions as she began to dig into the little pieces of paper stuffed in a drawer.

“And then I started reading them and that’s why I took that. I laid them all out and I started getting into them and I got a little emotional because I didn’t know, like, he was even doing specific days,” she said.

Sabrina adds that her husband had even created messages for specific days of the week.

“Like there’s a ‘What Am I Wednesday?’, ‘Fun Fact Friday', ‘Motivational Monday.’ And I was just like, 'This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” she said.

The video shows hundreds of notes across several tables with the loving messages from the girls' father. As the video points out, those are not even all of them. Those notes are only from the beginning of the school year!

The young girls cherished the sweet notes from their father so much that they have kept every single one he's written them.

Sabrina jokingly adds that her husband’s touching and sweet gesture is something he may have to continue for a long time.

“I don’t think he can stop now,” she said. “I think he’s locked in for life. They’re going to be in college and they’re going to be expecting those notes.”

What a sweet, simple act from a loving father that means so much!

Ephesians 6:4 “You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

“You've Got a Friend” by Peter Hollens Tim Foust

Take a listen to “You’ve Got a Friend,” sung by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust. The James Taylor classic is updated and spiced up a bit here, but the message is the same.

Four lines of the chorus say it all:

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running oh yeah, baby
To see you again

Aside from the lyrics, the Hollens and Foust rendering of the song is super satisfying and soothing! With the two (or maybe more) parts and the combination of their exquisite voices, the performance is a pleasure to the ears.

For the first 60 seconds, as Peter Hollens delivers melodic magic with the first verse, Home Free’s bass, Tim Foust, 41, creates a bunch of different beats and sounds aside from the rich notes he sings.

Very cool! Probably, we can thank the group Pentatonix or the movie Pitch Perfect for bringing A Cappella music into fashion today, but it has been around for a very long time!

Peter Hollens, 42, is a classically trained vocalist who has partnered with a variety of artists on A Cappella projects, including his wife, Evynne; she’s an a cappella singer, too. Peter and Tim have collaborated several times and now have an album entitled Beautiful Duets Vol. 1, and, if this recording is indicative of the others included on the album, it is sure to be a winner!

It’s not often that a movie does a book justice or a cover measures up to the original. However, this one may be one that does!

In addition to their song performance perfection, we get a glimpse of another friend in a blooper at the video’s start when a white horse wants to join in. And don’t exit early!

If you do, you will miss Peter and his handsome little guy as he talks about the album project and thanks his patrons for their support. His kiddo may have a future in performing as well. His hand signals and expressions are right on cue!

“Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.” 2 Corinthians 12:19
