Crosswalk Couples Devotional

How can married couples encourage singles to take the plunge?

In marriage, we should help our spouses with their burdens in two ways.

As a Type-A personality, you may struggle to show your spouse love and value when they seem self-sufficient and independent; however, by implementing five simple strategies, you can break free from the cycle of people-pleasing and cultivate a deeper connection with your partner.

We as couples can keep in mind the struggles singles around us may be dealing with in getting married.

If you don’t build up your spouse, who will?

Life is serious enough, so as couples, we need to be reminded to laugh together to help ease the tension of our days.

If we say we love God, but we don’t choose to love our spouse, we’re deceiving ourselves because God is love, and we can’t really love Him without loving each other.

Once you can truly see, no one ever wants to be blind again.

Sometimes I find myself buying into the lie that says there will be a day we “arrive” as a couple.

For all of us who go through the worst in marriage, God offers His help, giving us comfort, directing our steps, and letting His compassion and kindness flow through us. All we have to do is ask Him, and He’s there for us, ready and willing to see us through difficulties, giving us His strength when we have none of our own left.

Step back from the frequent arguing or disunity, take a breath, and ask yourself these questions.

If you’ve lost the pleasure of marriage, I offer these words of wisdom:

When a disagreement arises between you and your spouse, you have a choice. Which is more important: being right or being happy?

Do you know the enemy of God, the devil, is at work to destroy every single marriage?

Here are a few small steps you can take today, to show up again, with shoes laced ready to move forward.
